Lace
Aida Bergsen’s Lace Collection is a romantic take on her sculptures. Here, the intricate lace motifs give a feminine yet gothic touch to her signature style of jewellery. The starting point is the designer’s fascination for architecture and art, particularly the Ottoman art that is present throughout Istanbul, where the Aida Bergsen atelier is located. The striking cuffs and rings conjure up images of a gothic allegory, through slightly macabre shapes set against open-work detailing that lends itself to depicting the delicacy of lace. In addition, the combination of precious metals and gemstones often incorporates a black rhodium patina, which provides the antique finish so evocative of the romance of a bygone era.
